| The
Rochester Franciscan Community
In Bogotá, Colombia
Our local Franciscan Community as a group is
gratefully experiencing its own growth as
increasing numbers of Colombian women and men
seek to explore ways to join their own life and
spirit with that of the local Community. Some
are discerning a call to profess vows as
canonical Religious.
Others choose to
express their interest in Franciscan life and
shared values as Cojourners – a form of
associate membership for both women and men,
single or married, who remain faithful to their
personal commitments while joining their gifts
to the life and mission of the Community.
Others have chosen to
become part of the "Franciscan Group," an
informal gathering that meets monthly to share
prayer and spirit, learn more about the
Franciscan tradition, and collaborate in a
variety of values-based service projects.
Our local living Community also reaches out to
persons interested in deepening their spiritual
life, especially younger women, to explore with
them the possibilities of a shared future, based
on the richness of both the diversity and the
strength of commonalities among us. |

Gema Peña will begin novitiate toward
Vowed Life in August, 2008. |
All of these groups
experience a genuine mutuality in their
commitment to one another and to a common
mission.
The fruit of such exchanges is evident,
expressing itself through reverence for the
sacred in all of creation while promoting,
through a leadership of service, peace, justice
and non-violence in a war-torn context, with
particular care for the poor ones in our
immediate surroundings. At present, this care is
offered in such fields as education, pastoral
ministry, healthcare, and human rights.
You can join us through
one or more of the following:
•a monthly gathering of the Franciscan Group (the last
Saturday of each month – 5:00-7:00 p.m.)
•seasonal overnight retreats
•one-to-one accompaniment in one's personal process
