The East
Coast Area including Chicago and Milwaukee is composed
of Sisters and Cojourners, non-vowed men and women who
share our Franciscan values, who live along the Eastern
coast of the USA and inland as far as Chicago and
Milwaukee.
Involved in a variety of ministries, we serve a diverse
population including African Americans, Latinos and
Anglos of different ages and economic classes.
Among the ministries are:
•chaplaincy, nursing, religious education
•administration at a variety of levels including parish,
diocesan and national,
•retreats, volunteering and Hispanic services... along
with other forms of presence and service.
The relationships are mutual as each is enriched by the
other.

Many of us live
singly and at a distance from each other so times to
come together for prayer and sharing of life are
essential. Small groups of those who live close
geographically gather monthly or as often as is
possible. Another method of staying connected is via
e-mail and conference calls. Twice a year all the
Franciscans who live in the East gather for an entire
weekend in which relationships are renewed and we are
revitalized in our commitment to a shared life of
service and ministry.
