About Our Congregation: Sharing Our Ministry

The Sisters of Saint Francis of Rochester, Minnesota, are a group of women religious who follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ after the example of Saint Francis and Saint Clare of Assisi, Italy. Our mission is "to be a compassionate presence for peace in our world, striving for justice and reverence for all creation."

Where are the Sisters of Saint Francis?

  • They are found in chapels and places of prayer interceding for the needs of our world.
  • They are found in places of need. They are found in places of pain. They are found in places of silence.
  • You will find them with those that have a burden to bear…ministering in hospitals and hospices.
  • You will find them working for those facing social injustices…providing immigrant support services and working to put an end to human trafficking.
  • You will find them helping those that struggle with living day-to-day…volunteering at Dorothy Day Centers and social agencies in their local communities.
  • You will find them embracing those that need forgiveness after choosing the wrong path… ministering to those with addictions and those imprisoned.
  • You will find them educating others…whether it be in schools or guiding those who choose to embark on a new spiritual path.

Your gifts allow us to continue our ministries, which include: serving the poor, needy and homeless; providing continuing education experiences for our community and formation for others; maintaining the building and grounds that welcome hundreds for prayer, liturgy, reflection, retreat, education and service each year; and providing care for our retired Sisters, many of whom taught in Catholic schools. By supporting the Sisters, you ensure that the work in these and other valuable ministries continues.
